Ranching

Matador Cattle Company operates three ranches: Beaverhead near Yellowstone National Park in Montana, Spring Creek in the scenic Flint Hills of Kansas, and the historic Matador Ranch in Texas. The ranches total about 425,000 acres and have about 15,000 head of cattle. Matador Cattle Company is one of the nation’s 10 largest cow/calf operations.

The winner of several major environmental awards, Beaverhead
Ranch in Montana was the first ranch in the country to achieve
WildlifeHabitat Council certification. In 2007, Beaverhead was
honored by the Montana Preservation Alliance for maintaining
the historical integrity of many of its ranch buildings,
including this 1860s log barn.
