Koch companies entered the pulp industry in 2004, acquiring two mills and other assets from Georgia-Pacific Corp. In 2005, Koch Industries completed its $21 billion acquisition of Georgia-Pacific, which was the largest acquisition of a publicly traded company by a private firm in U.S. history.

More than 75 Georgia-Pacific sites are certified under the U.S. OSHA Voluntary Protection Programs.

Georgia-Pacific LLC, based in Atlanta, is a world leader in the manufacture and marketing of tissue, packaging, paper, building products, related chemicals, and fluff, filter and market pulp. The company and its affiliates have more than 300 manufacturing facilities across North America, South America and Europe, ranging from large pulp, paper and tissue operations to gypsum plants, box plants and building products complexes, and more than 50,000 employees worldwide.

Georgia-Pacific’s familiar consumer brands in North America include Quilted Northern®, Angel Soft®, Brawny®, Vanity Fair® and the Dixie® brand of tabletop products. In Europe, consumer brands include Lotus®, Colhogar®, Delica®, Tenderly® and the Vania® brand of personal care products. The company also markets dispensing systems and hygienic products including paper towels, napkins and liquid soap used in commercial settings such as restaurants, schools and hospitals.

Georgia-Pacific is the largest manufacturer of plywood in the U.S.

The company’s packaging business sells finished products primarily to consumer product manufacturers. It is one of the country’s largest suppliers of container board to independent converters, and includes cellulose, bleached board and kraft operations.

Georgia-Pacific building products manufacturing business has long been among the nation’s leading suppliers to lumber and building materials dealers and large do-it-yourself warehouse retailers.
