Environmental Stewardship

Koch company employees contribute time and talent in their communities to support a variety of environmental stewardship projects. For example:

Volunteers from INVISTA in Waynesboro, Va., have participated in that community’s annual river cleanup for 13 consecutive years. Other Koch companies partner with area organizations for river cleanups in Washington, D.C., and Toledo, Ore.

Support from Flint Hills Resources helped the "Living Lakes Initiative" in Minnesota.

In Minnesota, Flint Hills Resources contributed to the “Living Lakes Initiative,” sponsored by Ducks Unlimited and the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. The program works to protect waterfowl and wild rice crops throughout the state, and resulted in a bumper crop of wild rice on Minnesota lakes, despite drought conditions in 2006 and 2007.

Koch companies work to preserve and maintain wildlife habitat on their properties, with five sites receiving Wildlife Habitat Council certification. Several of these are certified as Corporate Lands for Learning™ sites by WHC. The CLL certification program recognizes a commitment to environmental education programs.
